Our residents participate in a wide variety of weekly wellness activities and exercise programs. All activities and exercises at Azalea Estates are designed to stimulate the mind, body and spirit. Led by our experienced Wellness and Activities coordinator, who has a BS degree in Science and Exercise Physiology, we see improvements in many of our resident’s physical and mental well-being over a short period of time.

One of our specific targeted programs is our Parkinson’s exercise regimen.  The classes focus on increasing physical function and delaying disease progression. In addition to the weekly classes, we offer 1 on 1 support focusing on symptom-specific exercises. Focus Areas include rigidity (stiffness), Posture, Gait, Freezing, Depression, and Voice Projection.

Exercise Programs

Our indoor, heated, saltwater aerobic pool offer residents the benefits of aquatic therapy. The elimination of fear of falling while exercising in the warm water along with weightlessness are reasons why seniors benefit so much from the aquatic exercise.

Our aquatic workouts, which can be done individually or in a group, provide a cardiovascular burn with light resistance. Water provides resistance against the body preventing any of your joints from moving too quickly. The buoyancy of the water helps to support a portion of your weight, reducing the load on your joints. Exercising in water makes you feel about 90% lighter, and water produces 12 times the resistance of air on your body.

Ideal for those with: Balance Issues, Arthritis, Back problems, foot and leg injuries, and knee conditions.
